Diageo has more than 25,000 talented people around the world growing our business and nurturing our brands. We have a guiding purpose – to celebrate life, every day, everywhere, which permeates everything we do. We want our people to thrive, and we’re committed to their professional and personal development. Put simply, we want to ensure Diageo is a great place to work.
Europe Supply forms part of Diageo Global Supply and is a central pillar of our business. Diageo Global Supply is an integrated network of over 10,000 people who manage one of the world’s most efficient and effective supply chains to produce and deliver some of the world’s best loved brands. We’re a powerhouse of innovation; delivering new products and packaging to accelerate our business performance.
We deliver best-in-class customer service through our focus on manufacturing excellence techniques, driving innovation, providing exemplary leadership in reducing our impact on the environment and acting as a custodian of hundreds of years of heritage and craftsmanship.
We have production and distribution facilities around the world, which include 91 distilleries, maltings, breweries, maturation warehouses, vineyards, wineries, cooperages and packaging plants. We produce four fifths of our products in Africa, Australia, Canada, UK and USA and the remainder with our joint-venture partners around the world.
Europe Supply brings together almost 5,000 people from across over 50 sites in Italy, Northern and Southern Ireland and Scotland. With the growth trajectory for Scotch looking strong, Diageo has announced plans to invest over £1billion in Scotch whisky production over the next five years to meet growing global demand for our brands. The investment will see a major new malt distillery built, expansion of existing distilleries and substantial new warehousing capacity will be developed.
How our programme works
You’ll complete three challenging, rewarding and varied rotations during our structured, three-year programme. Each rotation will develop the functional skills you’ll need to work in our Europe Supply organisation and your leadership potential. Through working with different teams in production operations (e.g. distilling), engineering, supply chain, brand technical and procurement, you’ll gain broad exposure across our business.
There is also the opportunity for you to join our core Engineering team with a view to building your career around a more specialist engineering path.
During our programme, we aspire to give you experiences in:
- People management – you could be managing a team of operators on one of our production sites
- Continuous improvement and project management – you could be leading a project to deliver a new brand to market or reduce our energy consumption
- Exposure to commercial areas – you could be working with suppliers to procure the ingredients we use to make our products or working with our customers to identify efficiencies in our supply chain
- International experience – you could be supporting a new production facility overseas
Typically, you’ll be based in Scotland for your first rotations and possibly in a different region thereafter. We fully support international moves.
How we’ll support you
We know how important it is to provide you with the right development opportunities and level of support to build your confidence and enable your success.
Our aspiration is to develop well-rounded professionals in our Europe Supply organisation with the potential to become future leaders of our business. To help you achieve this, you’ll have access to our comprehensive programme of development.
This includes taking part in a two-day Corporate Induction at our global headquarters in London when you join; attending an annual ‘Connect’ learning event; and taking part in monthly online seminars hosted by senior leaders of our business.
At the same time, you’ll be building your functional expertise and skill set in the areas of continuous improvement, manufacturing excellence and project management. Where appropriate, we support professional qualifications.
To add to this, you’ll be placed with a buddy to guide you during your first rotation and assigned a senior mentor who’ll share their advice and experience with you throughout the programme.
During the programme, you’ll be carrying out real roles and gaining invaluable on-the-job experience with the support of experienced people managers who’ll set you up for success from the day you join us.
After the programme, you’ll be expected to graduate to a more senior role in line with your career aspirations.
- 300 UCAS points or equivalent
- A confirmed or predicted 2.1 degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline or a business discipline with a focus on supply chain management
- To be globally mobile
